We were able to get a spot under the cliff so we had some shade but those spots are limited so be prepared with an umbrella if you don't want to be in the sun while not in the water.
There are also a few restaurants in the area that have happy hour (mid afternoon until 5-6 o'clock) and it is also in close proximity to Kaanapali. We went to Sea House Restaurant for happy hour between 2-4:30pm which is a short 5 minute walk from the beach.
Saw a turtle and also several eels besides the fish.
Nice beach. Small cove keeps waves down. Good snorkeling area with coral and fish on both sides and across the cove. Sea tutles too.
Happy hour at Merriman to the left of the bay, is most enjoyable.
Visibility was great and we saw as many fish as when we went snorkeling with "Pride of Maui" (highly recommend that boat...)
Beautiful area. The beach is in a cove that you walk down to. We had my daughter's Senior pictures taken on the beach. It was an absolutely gorgeous day and sunset.
We will certainly go,back,to,that bay.
We were at Kapalua beach this past week a couple of times....GREAT GENTLE AND FRIENDLY BEACH..
Would definitely recommend this beach for a nice relaxing couple of hours.
While it's a very nice beach (not too wavy, plenty of fishes in the sea, and good place to paddleboard), it can get very very crowded. Not a good place to lay down and relax.
The visibility for snorkelling is a bit foggy but once you focus on one fish you won't be disappointed. Also saw many different types of small fish (rainbow fish) and an eel.
Great family beach - the waves are not too big and the first couple of feet of the shore do not have coral which makes it a great spot to just relax in the water.
We saw one turtle near the left side of the bay, which was so amazing to see!
